The Big Illustration- Fourth Bridge

This is my next development of my illustrations, I have created a replica illustration of Fourth Bridge using a reference image of a photograph I took of the bridge while driving past on the way to Perth.
I created the bridge using the Pen tool and used rectangles for the bridge separators, I also used various different Stroke strengths to create the wiring of the Bridge and the steel structure, I used a higher strength for the Steel to make it clear which part of the bridge appears the heaviest.

I also looked at the history of the bridge to get a better idea of what the bridges texture and environment should be, I discovered that the Bridge was built in the 1890's and since then there has been a never ending job of painting the bridge over and over again, this is why I have added the small ladders on top of the flats to demonstrate the job that has been going on for so many years.

I have used lots of small circles on the steel structure of the bridge to give it a different texture to the rest of the bridge,  this makes it more identifiable as a metal and seems to give it a heavier appearance which I like.
I created the wires using a clean stroke without any fill to make the wires look thin but still structurally integral.
